Leading Queensland Architecture and Interior Design firm, Arkhefield, have contributed their designs to one of the first laneway transformations in Brisbane City as part of the ‘Vibrant Laneways and Small Spaces’ program. The Brisbane City Council initiated the program through the City Centre Master Plan to convert some of the city’s forgotten spaces to vibrant meeting, retail and dining destinations.

Tucked away in a private sanctuary perched above Spencer Lane, The Laneway is the perfect spot to enjoy good company, drinks and bar cuisine of a calibre not seen in the city, from award-winning chef Kym Machin. Let your curiosity guide you and lose yourself in Brisbane’s first taste of laneway culture. The Laneway acts as a beacon hovering over the lane at the first floor level and framed by a 4m high cantilevered balcony over Spencer Lane facing towards Margaret Street.  It can be accessed via a set of stairs from the rear lane, or through The Euro which looks down the laneway providing a rear door for entry.

The cocktail list is inspired; I can’t wait to try a ‘Crustation Sensation’ complete with a juniper dust rim! The more brave may sample ‘Bill’s Breakfast’, made with bacon infused Maker’s Mark bourbon and maple syrup. Definitely worth a look!
