Over the years the original house had been partially renovated, however with little thought, leaving it in need of a lot of love and affection. Klinge Constructions worked together with Big House Little House architects and Luisa Interior Design to turn this lacklustre home into a modern retreat. A full renovation and new extension have yielded a contemporary home that is filled with charm, with spaces that capture the panoramic city views and offers superb indoor/outdoor living.
The owners of the home dreamt of creating an outdoor space that could be fully utilised throughout the year, with barbeques in summer and marshmallows by the fire in winter. Blurring the lines between indoor and out, the entertaining area’s standout features are the stunning Horizon Cantilever Fireplace by Jetmaster and the corner stacker sliding doors that lead out to the rear deck.
The beautifully crafted, open-plan kitchen pays homage to contemporary living and features an impressive wine cellar. The hero of the space, however, is the stunning New York Marble bench top, with its dramatic grey veins adding depth and movement to the space.
The final result is a home befitting the build and design team’s commitment to quality – so much so, it won the State Award for Best Home Renovation/Remodelling Project (between $576,000 and $1,000,000) at the 2016 Master Builders Awards. “We build and renovate all our homes to this high standard, but the Crosby Street home stands out just that little bit more than the rest with the attention to detail and overall fit out of fixtures and finishings,” says Daniel Klinge from Klinge Constructions.
