To make the space more functional, down lights were installed in the display cabinets and under overhanging cupboards. Farmers Waratah cabinet doors feature flat panels painted in Dulux Whisper White.

Timber flooring was laid after the other renovations were complete to give the space a more refined look.

Lisa Mayer from Maytain Cabinets has some advice for those planning a kitchen renovation. “Don’t rush your decisions. Remodelling your kitchen can be costly, so the design should be something you are prepared to live with for a long time. Choose your appliances carefully and avoid buying them at peak times, such as Christmas, because prices usually increase and stock availability diminishes – including the supply of stone.”
