Adding a sense of calm to a family home is this parents’ retreat, artfully designed by Thomas & Alexander Interiors.
With its expansive views of the city skyline, this room had potential in droves. Not only was it a sitting room adjoining the main bedroom, but it also boasted a large, open space, with light filling the room beautifully on glorious summer days.
Christopher Thomas, from Thomas & Alexander Interiors, knew he could take his clients’ initial brief and extend it to create the room they enjoy today. It was with this in mind that he suggested the space be dual-purpose – functioning both as a parents’ retreat, but also a room for pre-dinner drinks and conversation while entertaining. With such strong foundations in place, it was a project that proceeded with no complications or challenges. In short, it was a dream project with inspiration aplenty. “My clients wanted a room which was tasteful, modern and dateless,” Christopher explains.“This brief, as well as the architecture, was my inspiration.”
The interiors largely evolved as the project ticked along its timeline; Christopher searched for furnishings and fabrics with no preconceived ideas – the result is a fluid, organic space, boasting a global-inspired style in a nod to the clients’ well-travelled life. The colours chosen – a palette of cream, mocha, warm greys and caramels – add depth and warmth to the otherwise neutral room. “It reflects my clients’ aesthetic, but also my passion and discipline for unsurpassed quality and luxury,” says Christopher.
Favourite feature:“The custom designed Swarovski crystal light fitting on the entrance to this amazing open space. It’s quite impressive in size and is, in a word, spectacular.”
