Created by Sunshine Coast Council in collaboration with residents, the design and development industry and community groups, the book seeks to identify what we locals love most about living on the Sunshine Coast, and offer insights and tips towards building a better future together, at home and out and about.

Acknowledging that good design echoes the region’s core characteristics while enhancing and protecting what the community loves most, the book’s core design principles aim to contribute to achieving the council’s vision to become Australia’s most sustainable region. It’s a guide for council, industry and community to make design decisions that take advantage of the coast’s stunning surroundings, and al the lifestyle benefits living on the Sunshine Coast offers.

The design book is a beautifully striking book, with 150 vivid and scenic photos of special places and well-designed buildings on the Sunshine Coast. You’ll find plenty of ideas inside for incorporating good design elements into your coastal home. Simple tips, like having eaves and awnings to provide shade, doors and windows that open up to let the sea breeze in and indoor living spaces that flow onto outdoor decks or patios to make the most of the indoor-outdoor lifestyle.
