With uninterrupted ocean views, the interior design of the house by Kate Connors from Connors and Co. naturally took on a nautical theme with a bold use of indigo blue that was softened by a complimentary neutral colour palette. Layers of confident pattern and subtle texture mix masculine and feminine elements and natural materials offset the clean lines of the show-stopping custom joinery in the living room.
This white wall-to-wall shelving with a Resene Celestial Blue background is a focal point in the home, drawing the eye to the clean lines yet artistic configuration of the shelving while housing the family’s collection of art and coffee table books. The clever installation of a sliding door conceals the TV when not in use, keeping the open-plan design minimal and uncluttered.
The family’s existing dining setting – a Mark Tuckey table with light blue Hans J Wegner wishbone chairs – inspired the colour palette in the living room. Layers of blues, charcoal and natural linens were added to marry oak flooring, cement tiles, grass cloth and hand-printed wallpapers.
