Tiel Seivl-Keevers is an artist living in the inner west of Brisbane, creating thought-provoking semi-abstract and abstract artworks.
Tiel Seivl-Keevers’ biggest inspiration is the natural world, looking into it rather than the larger, traditional landscape perspective, capturing the impermanency of nature.
Her art is characterised through its ability to provoke memory, mapping points and connections and expressing sensations of how nature impacts our emotions.
The expression of air, water, earth, fire, smell, sound and touch collide onto one surface where the viewer can see all these layers.
Her work is often inspired by a place, portraying its environmental and cultural aspects.
Tiel Seivl-Keevers’ artworks are formulated in her journal before she translates these ideas onto larger scale surfaces, with paper and wood being her preferred choice currently.
Tiel says, “I build layers. I erase. I assemble. I alter. I scratch and carve, then stitch and mend until I am satisfied that I have captured the atmosphere and intricacies that nature provides”.
Tiel has studied fine arts and graphic design, teaching at universities across Australia, and has a background in illustration and printmaking.
Since having a family, Tiel Seivl-Keevers has focused on making art her career. View her works on her website.
