Hung up on hues? So are we. In fact, we wait all year to find out what lucky Pantone shade has been awarded Colour of the Year (it’s a pretty big deal!). Inspired by culture and environmental trends, the chosen colour is always set to influence trends in fashion, food, travel and of course décor and interior design. So without further ado, we introduce Colour of the Year 2017, Greenery. Or 15-0343 to be exact.
Fresh and zesty this yellow-based green is a reflection of our increasing desire to connect with the environment and is representative of new beginnings and rejuvenation. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, explains “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment… Greenery symbolises the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”
This trans-seasonal hue can be paired with an array of colour combos. Mix it with nature’s neutrals such as forest greens and Mahogany, or rev it up with bright oranges and Fandango Pink. Check out Pantone’s website for more colour pairings.
