“This was a fun, innovative project that allowed us to introduce colour, comfort and textural qualities into the living spaces and really embrace the clients’ love for exotic interiors, paired with elegance and comfort,” explains Elissa Greer from Darren James Interiors.
Soft furnishings and detailing were the perfect showcase for the designers’ skilled styling, allowing them to transform the home’s living spaces with pops of colour and lush velvet finishes. The palette is at once muted yet vibrant – an artful blend of moody black and grey, blush tones and rich, jewel-like accents.

The amethyst Botanical Graffiti handknot rug by Designer Rugs is a standout in the living area, setting a luxurious stage for a striking floral artwork by Ali McNabney Stevens. It’s a formula repeated throughout the home as carefully curated artwork, flooring and furnishings combine to inject vibrancy and colour, bringing the rooms to life. “We also celebrated the home’s natural lighting and introduced lots of lush indoor greenery throughout,” adds Elissa.
In the dining room, the modern table and chairs from Hub Furniture create the perfect anchor for this sleek interior, adding a sense of warmth to the otherwise minimal space. “Incorporating this with the simplistic décor, we were able to create a dining space for our clients to enjoy and entertain in,” says Elissa, adding that lighting choices played another crucial role: “Floor lamps and pendants are a perfect way to introduce artificial lighting into a space, as they can vary in style, material and colouring suitable for the surrounding furnishings. We have included both throughout the Tennyson home.”
The result? A look of laidback luxe, expertly merging the cool, the calm and the artfully collected.
