Style and function is at the forefront of this modern kitchen design

This contemporary new build in Brisbane called for a showstopping kitchen that would take centre stage.

With a bold design, this new four-level home located high on a hill in the inner-city suburb of Balmoral, Brisbane boasts considered and thoughtful detailing and modern interior spaces. So, when it came time to the kitchen zones, for these homeowners, they wanted to ensure it would equally excel in both style and function.

This stunning kitchen’s design concepts were brought to life by Kitchen Gallery, leading to an award for the 2017 HIA & DIA Brisbane Kitchen – Bathroom and Interior Design for new kitchens up to $30,000.

Recognising a kitchen is the most important workspace in a home, Kitchen Gallery has created this sophisticated yet practical kitchen, designed with uninterrupted working spaces that create highly functional and safer work zones.

The expansive island is perfect for preparing large meals and is well situated to allow for the simultaneous entertainment of guests.

The rectangular space makes for an excellent ergonomic environment, with the distance between the backbench and the island allowing for plenty of room to move around. Such a highly efficient layout offers adequate space between the cooktop, sink, and refrigerator.

A separate butler’s pantry has also been incorporated, offering another dishwasher, sink, and dual ovens – every keen cook’s dream! Kitchen Gallery created this area to work almost as functional as another kitchen, with ample space for food storage but also lots of room to prep, cook and clean up.

The design and appearance are kept consistent by Kitchen Gallery throughout this luxurious kitchen through the innovative use of materials, including kitchen cabinetry in fingerprint-resistant melamine, with lift up overheads and recessed handleless shadow lines along the back and front of all base cabinetry. The island bench with its split-level benchtops in 20mm Caesarstone Night Sky, 20mm Caesarstone Statuario Maximus with shark nose edging, and Grey Iron Bark Timber, anchors the space, both visually and functionally.

A large splashback window floods the space with natural light during the day. During the evening when more lighting is needed, the Rakumba Highline Brass linear light above the kitchen island bench and recessed linear lighting in the overhead cupboards highlights the workspace. Integrated appliances also create the appearance of a much grander scale kitchen with no interrupted cabinetry.

The result is a beautifully designed kitchen – one where Kitchen Gallery meets the brief of functionality and style while anchoring the appeal of this stunning modern family home.
